Is the ARLT Summer School right for you?

salve Reader!

Signing up for the ARLT Summer School for the first time can be daunting. Perhaps you are wondering who will be there or whether the level of the sessions will be the right fit for you.

Here are some details that will help you decide:

🏛️ The ARLT

We are a mixed lot: practising teachers, PGCE students, ECTs, and experienced retired practitioners. The week is dedicated to celebrating Latin, Greek, and the ancient world, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.

🎯 Activities

  • Workshop-style Option Groups: experienced teachers lead sessions on GCSE, AS, and A-Level set texts, Classical Civilisation topics and other relevant matters, including drama, singing and grammar. There is something for every taste!
  • Lectures to stay up to date with subject knowledge and fire up your learning
  • Day trip: an opportunity to explore Roman sites in south-east Wales
  • Learning without pressure: daytime and evening activities are designed to help build connections and learn from each other. There is even an optional Latin-speaking table at lunch!

🏫 The Venue

Haberdashers’ Monmouth School offers comfortable single ensuite study bedrooms, so you will have your own private space when needed.

💰 Financial Support

Bursaries are available if you are self-funded, new to the Summer School, or your school cannot subsidise this CPD course.
